Culver City, CA – LeBasse Projects is proud to announce ‘Spectrum,’ new works from Nate Frizzell. The Los Angeles based artist returns with a new body of work, his first solo show of oil paintings since 2011.
For this exhibition Frizzell continues his exploration of self-discovery through the use of color. The new works will feature a series of large-scale oil paintings each focusing on a single palette – in turn making up the full spectrum of colors. Through his use of color and scale, Frizzell aims to create an immersive setting for the viewer. With each painting the color palette is utilized both to aid in telling a story and in exploring what feelings are traditionally evoked by the represented colors.
Frizzell suggests: “For this show, aside from wanting to develop a cohesive body of work on a larger scale, I wanted to see what I'm able to do with the space and see how size can affect the subject matter. I decided to use a very limited palette to tell the story of the colors I use and explore what they mean traditionally as well as the feelings they evoke in me. I wanted each painting to have an obvious focus on a single color, but also use every other color in each piece.”
The end result is a series of large paintings that both literally and figuratively represent the artists full color palette from previous periods of work. After his previous shows opened so successfully this exhibition will undoubtedly be one of the more anticipated of the season's openings.
